INCREASING CONTAINERS TRAFFIC
Containers traffic registered 765 647 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent units) for the 1st quarter 2017, being an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period in 2016. This progression is due to increasing traffic achieved by common user terminal, notably by ship-owners: Hamburg Sud, Hapag Lloyd, Arkas and UASC who have set up new maritime services during the 2nd semester 2016.
PASSENGERS AND ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF TRAFFIC
Tanger Med Port Passengers has achieved a traffic of 80 427 freight units and 412 250 passengers, the increases were substantial at 7.8% and 9.2% respectively compared to the same period 2016.
INCREASING NEW VEHICLES TRAFFIC
Vehicles traffic registered an increase due to exportation close to 63 688 vehicles coming from Renault Melloussa factory; being an estimated growth of 15.9% compared to the same period 2016.
Nearly 89 555 cars have been handled in both Renault and common user terminals.
HYDROCARBONS TRAFFIC: SECOND OIL POST LAUNCHING
Refined products traffic registered 1 826 162 tons during the 1st quarter 2017.
The second oil post, launched in March 2017, should bring the whole processing capacity to 15 million tons per year.
STEADY GENERAL MERCHANDISE TRAFFIC
General merchandise activity generated the 1st quarter 2017 a traffic of 69 444 tons excepting cereals.
