After the organization of the first two editions, respectively in Morocco and Djibouti, the third edition of the African Ports Forum (APF), in partnership with Tanger Med, was organized on October 21st and 22nd in Douala, Cameroon, under the theme “Africa’s ports in the light of the AfCFTA.” The event was organized in a hybrid format with the support of the Port Authority of Douala (PAD) and the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) in collaboration with the African Transport Policy Program (SSATP) and Proparco. This annual meeting brought together representatives from government and port authorities, maritime and logistics operators, financial institutions as well as stakeholders and service providers of the African port ecosystem. Presenters and speakers from the African port community were able to address both strategic and technical issues related to the contribution of port authorities in the deployment of the free trade area, the placement of dry ports, connectivity and the emergence of new logistics corridors as well as the fundamental role of human capital and port skills.

Several representatives of Tanger Med spoke at the event in the sessions “The key role of port authorities in the new development model” and “Dry ports: a source of growth in Africa.”
Similarly, the subsidiary Tanger Med Engineering hosted a booth during the event and spoke in a session under the theme ” Quay Upgrade Solutions ” to present the new technical solutions aimed at the deepening of the quays for the maintenance of harbour activities in the oldest basins and to accommodate next-generation ships.
