PERFORMANCE IN ACTIVE SECTORS
Business volume coming from Tanger Med activity zones is up by 26% compared to 2020 and amounted to 9,2 billion USD in 2021. The corresponding sector performances are:
– 6,2 billion USD for the automotive sector, up by 24% compared to 2020
– 1 billion USD for other industrial sectors, notably textiles and aeronautics up by 11% compared to 2020
– 2,1 billion USD for the logistics sector, up by 46% compared to 2020
This significant increase in the automotive sector is due to the start of new projects in the «Tanger Automotive City» zone.
In terms of logistics flows created (including trucks and containers), they also increased by 28% and amounted to 413 905 units in 2021 (compared to 322 361 units in 2020) across all the activity zones of Tanger Med industrial platform.
NEW PRIVATE INVESTMENTS
The year 2021 was marked by the setting up of 28 new projects in all Tanger Med’s activity zones, which represent private investments of 120 million USD and 4397 new jobs. These projects include Nippon Express, a Japanese 3PL logistics company, Ravago, a Belgian company specializing in industrialgrade polymers and recycled plastics, Mondi, an international packaging and paper manufacturing group, Boa, leader in the field of natural casing, Sonofet, a company specialized in the production of thermal insulation panels, etc.
Simultaneously, 8 companies operating within the industrial platform launched plans to extend their activities in 2021, including TE Connectivity, Indore and Siplas in «Tanger Automotive City» zone, and the automotive supplier Polydesign Systems in «Tanger Free Zone».
On the logistics side, 8 new operators have started their activities in Tanger Med Logistical zone, including: GEFCO, Dachser, TE connectivity, APTIV, etc. These projects concerned in particular the commissioning of 40,000 m² of advanced supplier warehouses (MAF) dedicated to automotive logistics.
