In October 2024, Maersk announced adjustments to the rotation of its ME2 service route, linking Northern Europe, the Middle East, and India. This modification, implemented from November 2024, removes Bremerhaven from the rotation.
The last ship to call at Bremerhaven on this service route was the CAP SAN SOUNIO, on October 11, 2024.
To compensate for this change, Maersk has set up a transshipment solution via Tanger Med. From now on, Bremerhaven will be linked to the Middle East and India via the Samba service route, which operates between Europe and the east coast of South America. This service route, which already includes Hamburg as a North German call, had integrated Bremerhaven at the beginning of 2024, reinforcing its connection capacities.
