The first open days event of the Fnideq Economic Activity Zone (ZAEF) was held from February 21st to 26th , under the theme “The retail sector, a lever for economic development in Fnideq”.
Initiated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (CCIS-TTA) and the ZAEF Investors’ Association, the event was designed to promote economic dynamism at both the local and regional levels, boost job creation, and contribute to economic recovery against a backdrop of a departure from former informal sector activities.
The meeting highlighted the importance of the zone and the many investment advantages it offers, and successfully encouraged economic operators based in the zone to open up further to local and regional traders, with the aim of promoting the large-scale marketing of their products on the region’s markets.
The first phase consisting of 10-hectare already accommodates around 76 warehouses ranging in size from 200 to 400 m², representing a wide range of sectors including food processing, textiles and clothing, electronics and hygiene products, home furnishings, etc.
A pioneering economic initiative, the project has achieved remarkable success. Traders based in the zone receive numerous benefits, as well as support and guidance from the economic zone’s teams and the relevant administrations, including the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII), which provides facilities in terms of procedures relating to goods.
Recognizing the importance of product traceability and conformity, entities such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Office National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), and Customs authorities are fully involved in the inspection process for products placed on the market
