In partnership with the IHMA (International Harbour Master Association), Tanger Med organized the fourteenth edition of the Harbour Masters Congress at Tanger Med Port Center on May 21st- 23rd, 2024. Considered a key international event for discussing maritime and port issues, IHMA congresses are held every 2 years in the world’s main trading ports. The last one was held in 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of Tanger Med Port Authority, Mr. Hassan ABKARI, the President of IHMA, Mr. Paul O’REGAN, the Director of Ports and Maritime Affairs, Mrs. Sanae El AMRANI, Tanger Med’s Harbour Master, Mr. Kamal LAKHMAS, and other harbour masters.
This not-to-be-missed event brought together almost 200 foreign participants, including 33 African port authorities, to promote exchanges, debates as well as strengthen professional networks. A rich and informative three-day program was also provided. IHMA also highlighted the latest innovations in port call optimization, smart ports, technology, digitalization, artificial intelligence, real-time data, the transition of pilotage systems into the future, developments in mooring and port infrastructure, as well as harbour masters in safety and incident management.
